Desperation or dedication: Who's to say, really?
In an act of either desperation or, perhaps, dedication to meeting the "100 emails, 20 dates" goal of this blog, I signed up for Match. Or rather, my three friends signed me up for Match. K., in particular, was sick of reading my posts about cougar parties and other nonsense on a blog that is supposed to be about my adventures in dating. She makes a very good point. Also, she's married and had a toddler, and I think she needed some more vicarious single girl experiences.
Despite being an editor as my day job, I simply am unable to write a profile for myself. So they wrote it for me. It's pretty funny. We'll see what happens.

Good luck! :)

OOOH! That is exciting! Can’t wait to hear all about it. Having friends write your profile is a great, great, great idea!

I think online dating is a great way to expand your dating options. I did the online thing for months. I didn’t get a love connection out of it, but I did get some good stories. Plus, it felt really great to get back out there and at least try to meet someone.

Yay! Good luck! I wish you much success. And I hope that if crazies stumble across your path, they are at least amusing enough that you can still make fun of them on your blog, and not be too creeped out :)

Any good dating stories yet? Or maybe just any horrible horrible guys who have sent you an email? Maybe one double your age? Or maybe one from a horeble spelar?
January 24th, 2009 - 13:10
None yet! (I love the “horeble spelar”!) In fact, the only responses I’ve gotten have been from two guys in other states, one guy who said, “I’m not interested, but it’s cool you play an instrument,” and another guy who is an inch taller than me (I’m 5′4″). I might need to revise my profile…

Well, I went on my first (and last) online date in Dec.
I thought he was the perfect guy (seriously!) but he turned out to be super-damaged.
In the meantime, I’ll just read about your adventures! :)
Glad I ran across this blog, it’s been a fun read.

Oh I LOVE the ones from other states….I mean, really? If you’re going to START a relationship, why would you start a long distance one? I mean, that just screams “I have a wife and kids and a cute dog at home but I’m bored with that life so I think I”ll go start another side life in another state”

I laughed for about a minute straight after I read that, Kristin!

Oh no! You set height requirements? I’m average height (5′9″), and it drives me crazy when short girls insist on dating tall guys. Aren’t there more important criteria to examine?
May 26th, 2009 - 20:34
Not height “requirements,” per se. But I’d prefer to date a guy who’s a bit taller. That’s the problem with online dating, though — you preselect based on preferred criteria that, honestly, doesn’t really matter in the long run.
